Overall Ranking & Community Ranking
The students can have overall rank and community wise ranking too. The student can opt based on your community rank too. There will be separate community ranking is available for BC/BCM/MBC/SC/SCA/ST community. The percentage of reservation various categories as follows:
Like this, the ranking and merit list will be prepared on overall ranking and community based ranking for all those whoever applied for Engineering Admission. The first cut-off mark 200/200 will be considered, based on this above factors & overall state ranking will be prepared in descending order.

TNEA Random Number
Before the announcement TNEA ranking 2012, Anna University, Chennai will release will give Random number for all the students whoever applied for Admission. It’s nothing but system auto generated number. This might be the 10 digit number. This will be considered as the 5th category on the TNEA ranking.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Counselling 2012
TNEA application will be issued immediately after the Tamil Nadu +2 results. A merit list will be prepared based on the cut-off marks from HSE subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to 200. The students will be called based on the cut-off marks with TNEA Ranking 2012 starting from 1 till the eligible students whoever applied for TN engineering admission. Based upon the applicants the merit list and ranking will be prepared. A separate counselling session will be carried out in Anna University for all the students. The student's needs to exercise their option in prior based on their preference of order among which branch to select on which institution. One parent and student will be allowed for counseling to select the option. Branch will be allotted during counselling based on the students preference and availability of seats.
